Support 4 Sight, as part of the Rainbow Group, invites you to meet Dr Stephen Lindsay and Dr Ilyena Hirskyj-Douglas from The University of Glasgow, on Thursday, 13th of November at 10.00 am on Zoom
The Rainbow Group is an award winning collaboration of local sight loss organisations in England.
In this talk, Dr Stephen Lindsay, a lecturer in digital healthcare design, will start by giving an overview of human-computer interaction research and accessibility, looking at the early mistakes made in the field and why they happened. He will then dig into his own specific research area, participatory design in healthcare, and talk about how it has helped to address some of those challenges by placing a focus on empowering user groups. Finally, we will look to the future in the field, asking what opportunities new AI tools are making possible, but also asking whether there is a risk that the mistakes of the past are repeated in their design and deployment. Dr Ilyena Hirskyj-Douglas will follow up by expanding to how animals, especially dogs in our homes, can use computers and their applications to help service dogs with their work.
