Spotlight on Our Members: Sue Dunn Bringing Folk Music to the Community
At Outlookers, we’re always proud to celebrate the amazing things our members do both within and beyond our group. This month, we’re delighted to shine a light on Sue Dunn, who is actively enriching her local community through her passion for music.
Sue (pictured above in her Guinness hat decorated with shamrocks, taken by fellow member Paul Stanley at the Panther Folk Club on St Patrick’s Night) is a founding member and co-organiser of a lively folk club held at The Rose and Crown pub in Cleckheaton. Alongside her friend Paul Cockerham, Sue hosts the club every Tuesday evening from 8:00 pm to 10:30 pm.
A Community Full of Music and Joy
The folk club is more than just a weekly gathering – it’s a welcoming space filled with music, laughter, and friendship. Sue describes the evenings as a lot of fun, and it’s easy to see why. With a mix of performers and listeners, the club offers something for everyone, whether you’re an experienced musician or simply enjoy soaking up live music.
The Power of Singing
Sue’s involvement highlights something we strongly believe in at Outlookers: singing and music play a powerful role in supporting a positive mindset and overall wellbeing.
Getting involved in music can:
Boost mood and reduce stress
Build confidence
Create meaningful social connections
Encourage creativity and self-expression
Sue’s enthusiasm and commitment are a great example of how pursuing what you love can have a positive impact—not just for yourself, but for those around you too.
Get Involved
One of the best things about this folk club is that new members are always welcome. Whether you’d like to perform, join in, or simply enjoy the atmosphere, you’ll find a friendly and inclusive environment waiting for you.
We’re incredibly proud of Sue and all she’s doing in the community. Stories like hers show how Outlookers members continue to stay active, connected, and inspired.
If you’re looking for something uplifting to do on a Tuesday evening, why not pop along and see for yourself? 🎶
