We are delighted to invite you to Growing Our Vision — a series of fun, supportive, and inspiring events taking place this summer in Huddersfield and Batley.
Hosted by Outlookers, these events are all about bringing families together, sharing experiences, and helping shape the future of support services for visually impaired (VI) children and young people across Kirklees.
What is Growing Our Vision?
Growing Our Vision is more than just a day out — it’s an opportunity to:
Explore new activities and experiences tailored for VI young people
Connect with other families who understand your journey
Meet professionals and get trusted advice
Help influence the development of future services in your community
Whether you’re looking for support, ideas, or simply a welcoming space to relax and have fun, these events are designed with you in mind.
Activities for Children & Young People
There’s plenty to explore and enjoy throughout the day! Activities include:
Creative craft workshops and fun competitions
Hands-on media experiences
Opportunities to try musical instruments
VI-friendly sports and games
Introductions to Braille, sensory books, and accessible games
“What’s My Tech?” – explore assistive technology
A chance to meet and connect with other VI young people
A Space for Parents & Carers
We haven’t forgotten about the grown-ups! While the children are busy, you’ll have the chance to:
Meet other parents and carers in a relaxed, friendly setting
Hear from inspirational parent speakers who have built their own support networks
Speak directly with eye care and sight loss professionals
Get answers to your questions and practical advice
Connect with the Outlookers team and help shape future services
What Else to Expect
We’ve made sure everyone is comfortable throughout the day, with:
Refreshments, snacks, and hot and cold drinks provided
A dedicated parents’ space for conversation and networking
Separate quiet rooms available for both children and adults

Huddersfield – Saturday 20th June ⏰ 10:00am – 2:30pm at Brian Jackson House, HD1 5JP
Batley – Saturday 4th July ⏰ 10:00am – 2:30pm at The Whitfield Centre, WF17 6HP
