Darren’s Greatest Hits!

Special thanks are in order for a new member who is singing for his supper, okay not literally, well singing for donations for Outlookers.

Darren Wallis, 40, who was born blind and lives with autism, joined our Dewsbury group at the start of June and enjoyed himself so much he immediately started fundraising as a thank you.

Image shows a picture of Darren holding his CD.

Darren, who attends the group with his mum Sue and splits his time between Birmingham and Dewsbury, is a soulful singer who is putting his skill to good use by collating an album of his favourite hits which span the decades, all sung by himself acappella style.

During his first visit to the Dewsbury group Darren, who views singing as an expression of his enjoyment of life, received a round of applause and standing ovation from other members following an impromptu unaccompanied live performance of the Take That hit “Rule The World”. This was followed up later the same day by a rendition of “Love is All Around” by Wet Wet Wet. Fast forward one week and Darren and Sue returned to the group with copies of Darren’s self titled album, “Darren‘s Greatest Hits”, which includes the tracks already listed plus many more.

The pair are selling copies of the album at a price of £5 each, all proceeds of which are being donated to Outlookers and demand is high, with the first batch of albums almost sold out. Luckily Sue has another batch on order so there’s still time to grab yourself a copy!

We wholeheartedly thank Darren and Sue for their fundraising efforts.

The CD will be available to be purchased during group sessions soon and you can also catch a clip of Darren singing a verse of one of his songs on our YouTube channel.
