⭐ Celebrating Diane: A Valued Member of Outlookers

At Outlookers, we’re incredibly fortunate to have dedicated volunteers who give their time, energy and enthusiasm to support others, and Diane is a wonderful example of just that.

👩‍💼 Supporting Behind the Scenes

Alongside her volunteering, Diane also supports our Communications and Engagement Officer, Sam, in a sighted support capacity. Her contribution helps ensure things run smoothly and plays an important part in keeping our community connected and informed.

🤝 A Familiar Face Across Our Groups

Diane is one of our regular volunteers and a much-loved presence across our sessions. Her positivity and commitment shine through in everything she does, and many of our members will recognise her friendly and welcoming approach.

She is particularly involved in:

  • Supporting and helping to run the Batley group, creating a warm and inclusive environment
  • Leading popular movement sessions that encourage everyone to get involved
  • Bringing energy and fun to group activities, including the much-loved “MAGIC chairs” sessions
  • Diane has a natural ability to help people feel comfortable and included, making each session enjoyable for all who attend.

🎤 A Hidden Talent You Might Not Know About

Outside of Outlookers, Diane is also a regular attendee of the Dewsbury and Halifax Rock Choir. Her love of singing is just another example of her vibrant personality and willingness to try new things.

If Diane’s musical side inspires you, you might like to explore Rock Choir yourself—it’s a great way to meet people, build confidence and enjoy music together.

💬 A Word from Diane

I have always had a passion for singing and dancing and since joining Rock Choir in 2018 my life has changed in such a musically fantastic way.   Walking into Dewsbury Rock Choir for the very first time was quite overwhelming but I shouldn’t have worried as I was greeted in such a friendly way.  I have made so many friends  and are still making friendships as new members attend.  My social life has increased and this has had a massive impact on my wellbeing.  I love singing at performances and get a real buzz when the audience are clapping and cheering for us, especially when they want more.

Some of my most amazing moments with Rock Choir –

  • Recording 4 songs at Abbey Road – such a fantastic day and experience, and the recordings sound great – I feel like a proper rock star
  • Singing at the NEC, Birmingham last November. There was 14,000-15,000 Rockies and the highlights were singing Mountain with Sam Ryder and Next to Me with Emeli Sanda.  We also had Russell Watson performing and Pat Sharp as DJ
  • Performing a flash mob at Proms in the Park at Castle Howard

🌟 Thank You, Diane

Diane truly embodies the spirit of Outlookers – supportive, enthusiastic and always ready to bring people together. Whether she’s volunteering at our groups or helping behind the scenes, she makes a real difference to our community.

Thank you, Diane, for everything you do – we really appreciate it.
